Scene Tweaks

 Scene Tweaks

Because I would be rendering the final video, I received the after effect files so that I had the raw files and that I could edit them if needed. I had to re-link files but with everyone having the same folder structure it was easy to find the files that I had on my computer.

Title

Liane did a great job on creating the logo and iterating on the feedback that we received. She animated it with a few effects. I found it a little short and maybe a little slow as I was thinking of fading it in but all I needed to do was change a few of the settings. I increased the wave speed and animated the wave width to get gradually thicker towards the end.

Party Scene

Sinead did a very good job of removing Dylan from the background as possible. Unfortunately we shouldn't have had Dylan in the background during the dancing scene in the background. This made the editing a lot harder and more trickier to do. Unfortunately the background around Dylan's head is still noticeable when we put him over but hopefully with the premiere editing and possible colour correcting tweaks, we can make it less noticeable.

I wanted to make a few small changes to the file that Sinead handed me. She had the background a little too slow for my liking. I don't really want to see the party peoples faces as they are not the focus in this scene. I also want there to be a clear contrast with Dylan and his background.

I sped up the scenes a lot using time remapping. I also added a Force Motion Blur effect onto the background footage to blur it a little and add a little bit of a strobing and fluid time-lapse effect in a way. I mainly focused on the motion samples and shutter angle and kept the same parameters for all the background files to keep them as consistent as I could between them.

I also decided to render the background in one composition with black spaces in between to make it easier for editing. I then separately rendered the roto-scoped file of Dylan with the audio so it would be easier to sync his lips to the actual song file. I also had to export the file of Dylan as a Quicktime video to render the RGB and Alpha layers for the transparent background. I had to render it again in 1080p and with Adobe Media Encoder to reduce the file size for sending it to the rest of the group for their test edits.

I received the title animation for the song name too and added the same changes I did to the artist title. However I noticed that the animation was being cut off by the edge. Therefore I added the 'Grow Bounds' effect too to give more breathing room for the animation. I went back to the artist title too and see if that issue was happening there too and I found that it was but not to the same extent. I rendered out both again with the alpha channel and renamed them.
